Growing up in the Michigan they were childhood classmates but lost touch with each other during college. Fortunately, they were reunited in Turkey when they literally crossed paths hiking in Cappadocia.

Now back together in New Holland, Michigan, we decided to take advantage of the local flora for their engagement shoot. It was a perfect, early summer day with an environment so relaxed it was almost as if I wasn’t there, and it shows in these excellent photos.

Our actual first steps. Our first day at school. Our first day of work. And most importantly, our first steps we take together as a married couple. As a photographer, I try to put myself into the shoes of the couple as they take these first steps to capture the emotions they are feeling. Which isn’t always easy because oftentimes nervousness is the overriding emotion when having photographs taken.
